Developing and validating a flipbook-based module for basic guidance and counseling

Abstract

Digital modules are needed in counselor education because conventional teaching materials often do not provide sufficient visual support, flexibility, and learning guidance for first-year students. This study developed and validated a flipbook-based digital teaching module for the Basic Guidance and Counseling course. The study used a development research design based on the ADDIE model. Data were collected through expert validation, lecturer usability assessment, open-ended questionnaires, and focus group discussions involving three guidance and counseling experts and three lecturers. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and with chi-square tests, while qualitative comments were used for product revision. The expert validation mean score was 3.82, the individual lecturer test score was 3.72, the limited field test score was 4.14, and the FGD score was 4.66. These results indicate that the module is feasible and usable for supporting Basic Guidance and Counseling instruction in higher education.
